The red eft ((Notophthalmus viridescens) is the terrestrial juvenile stage of the eastern newt, the most common salamander in eastern North America. We often see them on the roads as well as in the woods and fields around our house in central New Hampshire.

An individual red eft, scampering across star moss, inspired this print. Edition of 14.
