The paths of this print are the patterns formed by the plates in the bottom shell, the plastron, of the eastern painted turtle. To me, the overall pattern of the shell resembles an aerial view of a beautiful island.

To make this print, I printed a two-color Japanese wood cut on a sheet of my handmade kozo paper, followed by a drypoint image of the lines suggesting paths through the "island." Edition of 10 prints.
