A section of bark on an aging beech tree provided the basis for this print. I hope that my interpretation capture the textures and patterns of this beech mosaic.

I learned the technique used to make this print from Andrew Baldwin in a workshop that he taught at Zea Mays Printmaking Studio in Florence, MA. Baldwin developed a non-toxic method,using powdered sugar with his novel etching ground, for this aquatint process that David Hockney used in his Blue Guitar etchings.
