The paths of this print are the patterns formed by the plates in the bottom shell, the plastron, of the eastern painted turtle
. To me, the overall pattern of the shell resembles an aerial view of a beautiful island.
To make this print, I printed a two-color Japanese wood cut on a sheet of my handmade kozo
paper, followed by a drypoint image of the lines suggesting paths through the "island." Edition of 10 prints.
